An active transportation network accessible to people of All Ages and Abilities supports the Central Okanagan in achieving its goal to make walking, cycling and micro-mobility practical, popular, and safe options throughout the region.
Client: Sustainable Transportation Partnership of the Central Okanagan
GJD Planning + Design worked as a subconsultant to HDR to complete a Bicycle and Trails Master Plan for Central Okanagan that is supported by extensive community engagement and integrated seamlessly with their first Region-wide Transportation Plan.
Key deliverables included bicycle and pedestrian facility design guidance developed specifically for Central Okanagan, active transportation design supporting All Ages and Abilities facilities, and network designs for seamless integration with transit and direct connections to key destinations.
The Master Plan will guide policy and investment in active transportation programs and infrastructure over the next 20 years, supporting Central Okanagan in achieving its goal of making walking and cycling practical, popular, and safe options for trips throughout the Region.
