Get There By Bike: Translink’s Regional Bicycle Wayfinding Guidance
Working with municipal and regional staff from throughout the region, our consulting team produced standardized Bicycle Wayfinding Guidelines for Metro Vancouver to clarify the cycling network and to help achieve growth in cycling trips.
The guidelines have been adopted by TransLink as part of its delivery of the regional cycling strategy “Cycling for Everyone”.
As a subconsultant to Applied Information Group, Gavin led Alta Planning staff in completing a best practices review of international bicycle wayfinding guidance, developing wayfinding guidance for complex and challenging circumstances and prepared and presented draft and final guidelines to TransLink’s Transportation Planning Sub-Committee, made up of municipal staff from throughout the region. The same guidelines were recently adapted for use in Victoria’s Capital Region and for Central Okanagan, helping to provide a consistent approach to wayfinding for cyclists throughout the Province.
